Yours Randomly is a signature randomiser for Eudora.
This application allows you to create a list of quotes (or general text snippets), and automatically have a random one of these appended to your Eudora email signature file.
This is achieved by physically replacing the contents of the signature file, with the signature details and random quote as setup within Yours Randomly. Usually such a replacement is done automatically when you start your Macintosh, by placing an alias to the Yours Randomly program in your Startup Items folder. This means every time you restart your Macintosh, your Eudora email signature can be randomised.
If you so wish, you can also update your signature manually at any other time, by simply starting up the Yours Randomly application (which will change the signature, then automatically quit). Cron (timer) utilities could be set to perform this task (by automatically starting Yours Randomly) at regular, predefined intervals.
Setting Up Yours Randomly
When you first start Yours Randomly, the window shown above will be displayed (minus the quotes and other details). To set up your copy of Yours Randomly to randomise your Eudora signatures, follow these steps:
1. Select the signature file to be updated, by pressing the 'Signature File' button. A standard Open File... dialog is displayed, which will allow you to select the Eudora signature file that you want to have updated.
Usually this will be the standard signature file which you can find in the following location:
System Folder: Eudora Folder: Signature Folder: Signature
Note that when updating this file, Yours Randomly will completely erase the previous contents of the signature file you have selected.
2. Enter the standard details of your signature in the 'Base Signature' field -- these are the details that will always appear as part of your email signature.
Next, add the text "#include" (without the quotes) into this field where you want the randomised quote to appear. When Yours Randomly does it's work, this piece of text will be replaced with the random quote.
3. Create a list of random quotes, and paste them in the 'Random Quotes' field.
To retain compatibility with older randomisers (such as 'Autograph'), Yours Randomly uses the same 'Bongo Bob' format for the quotes. This means that you must separate each quote, with a line that contains only the two characters "%%" (again without the quotes).
Note: Bongo Bob is a very old Mac application that produced random quotes when run. Autograph is another, older, signature randomiser for Eudora.
4. Select the File | Save Setup... menu item to save these details in the Yours Randomly Prefs file (which is created and stored in the same location as the Yours Randomly application).
5. Use the Randomise button to test that everything is working. When you do this (and when you normally run Yours Randomly), the program will completely replace the contents of your 'Signature' file, with the Base Signature details and any random quote you want included.
6. To have Yours Randomly update your signature daily, select the File | Install menu item. This will place an alias to the Yours Randomly application in your Startup Items folder. You can also double-click the application at any time to update your signature.
To later uninstall the alias file from the Startup Items folder, just use the File | Uninstall menu item.
Normally (when all the setup details are present), Yours Randomly will start, update your signature, and then quit, without displaying any windows. If you want to modify the setup parameters, hold down the Command key when you double-click the application icon. In this case the setup window will be redisplayed.

Yours Randomly will run on all Macintosh computers. It requires 1100K of free RAM, and a minimum of System 7.1.
